About Black-Eyed Peas
Although they are called Black-Eyed Peas, these are actually beans. Black-Eyed Peas can also be called cow peas. They originated in North Africa, and have been eaten there for centuries. It was introduced to India about 3,000 years ago, and it’s a staple of Greek and Roman diets. These little beans were brought to the New World by Spanish explorers and African slaves. Today, Black-Eyed Peas are common in the southern United States, where you can buy dried, fresh, canned, and frozen Black-Eyed Peas. Black-Eyed Peas are said to taste something like an Azuki bean, and have a creamy texture.
